allgemeine Bezeichnung für VR-Systeme (
virtuelle Realität), die von mehreren Usern gleichzeitig benutzt werden können, wobei diese auf beliebige Weise miteinander
kommunizieren und interagieren können. MUVR kann man als
Nachfolger von
MUDs ansehen, den rein textbasierten Multiuser-Rollenspielen im
Internet. Eine Realisierung des MUVR-Konzepts sind Actionspiele wie z. B.
Doom, bei denen per Intra- oder Internet mehrere Spieler im selben
Labyrinth auf Monsterjagd gehen können. MUVR greift aber weiter, es soll nicht nur zu Unterhaltungszwecken dienen, sondern auch virtuelle Konferenzen, Kaufhausbesuche oder medizinische Operationen mit interkontinentalen Operationsteams möglich machen.
Der erste Schritt zu einer solch allgemeinen Form von MUVR ist die HTML-Erweiterung
